Actinic Keratosis: A Patient’s Story

Actinic keratosis is a skin lesion that develops because of sun exposure and can lead to skin cancer if left untreated. If your dermatologist finds that you have an actinic keratosis lesion—or AK—then he or she will recommend treating it as soon as possible to avoid complications.

Watch this video to learn about one patients’ experience with AKs. After a lifetime spent out in the sun with little protection, she developed an AK and is at risk for experiencing more of them. She must be vigilant about inspecting her own skin and see her dermatologist regularly.
