Psoriasis

Jan 4, 2012

Psoriasis is an inherited skin condition that causes redness, inflammation, “scaling” of the skin, and joint problems in some patients. The illness is not contagious, although many people may have that misconception because the way it’s inherited among families isn’t simple: It’s controlled by a number of different factors, so although several relatives may have it, the pattern of inheritance will most likely appear random.

As the speaker in this video attests, psoriasis is an illness that can be treated via a number of different options. Ultraviolet light works for some patients, while others do better with topical ointments. In addition, there are medications available to help with the joint problems psoriasis can cause.
